One of the hottest dating trends is cyber romance. This is meeting and possibly finding love via the internet. While this does open up a wide range of new possibilities for relationships, it also offers up some interesting new problems. Cyber romance is not without excitement and is a definite change from the way people used to date.

The biggest issue with cyber romance is that while you do get to know one another through emails, IM and maybe even chat room chatting, you don't really actually know each other. You are virtual strangers who have gotten acquainted without ever meeting in person. For the shy, this can be an advantage.

It gives them a chance to get to know someone in a more relaxed situation. But this type of getting to know each other is also full of potential pitfalls. For instance, if you see the profile of a girl that tempts you, then you start emailing and wait for a response. She emails you back and before you know it, you are meeting for coffee or cocktails.

But when she arrives, she is nothing like her photo! Maybe she is older, heavier, younger, taller, etc. than she led you to believe. The polite things to do here is to have the drink or coffee, chat for half an hour and then when you get home, email her and tell her thanks for her time, but you didn't feel any sparks. It is good manners to contact her after the date.

Just disappearing without any feedback at all is rude and should not be done. Another thing about cyber romance is that you never really know who is on the other end. You may think you are chatting with a sweet, sexy twenty-one year old female when really it is a na?ve fifteen year old that borrowed her best friend's older sister's picture to post online.

Or, you may have this incredible online relationship with this fantastic woman. The thing she forgot to tell you is that she is married with two children and a nasty husband that she is probably never going to leave. Cyber romance can also be a great way to meet people you might not have met otherwise.

Meeting people from across the country gives you a chance to see what women are like in other parts of the U.S. You never know, you might decide to move to a location where the women seem cooler, more approachable and less high maintenance.

If you do meet a great woman online and strike up a relationship with her, make sure you find out more about her before you start investing your deeper feelings. But do not feel guilty about saying that you met through an online dating service. Cyber romances no longer have the bad rap they used to as more and more people are finding success with cyber dating.
